I guess not

Avocados are supposed to be super baby food. I tried with Harry and I tried wtih Suzy. The results were about the same. Harry loves guacamole, so I guess we'll have to wait until the girl can have salt, lime and cilantro.

Really, I didn't do it

But there is that bit about the apple and the tree. Or in this case, the shoe and the shoe tree?

And of course, while we're at it, we do need the boy to run faster and jump higher, guaranteed:

These eyes

I think we're headed toward brown, because they certainly aren't staying blue. Don't tell anyone, but I'm hoping for hazel.

Dressing a boy

Back in the days before the girl arrived, I had convinced myself that boy clothes were just as cute as girl clothes. Cute plaids, polo shirts, sail boats, stripes, hawaiian shirts, plaid shorts (sometimes together) and so on. He didn't have to look like a screen-printed-sporto! He could be handsome! A little preppy! Kind of a nerd. Well, we all know how that part of the story ends. Yellow searsucker dress! Cardigan sweater with eyelet lace! Lace up toe shoe socks! So! Cute!

Anyway, today was the 'valentime' party at school. So last night Harry put together the cards he selected for his classmates:

Oh, wait, I must have uploaded the wrong photos. Hm, maybe not. Well, then, carry on.

We got up this morning and got ready for school and had an immediate disagreement about the shirt. (Cute, no??) He refused to take his Mickey sweatshirt off at school and explained it was a 'girly' shirt. So, I gave in. AFTER school. I brought his light up Spiderman shirt and let him change before he went to Kelly's. Apparently he's not as secure in his manhood as hoped.

Maybe a cookie will help?

Yes, that would help. In fact, I think I'll go let them help me now!

It's come home to roost?

Apparently when I was a small girl I had a bit of a habit of walking off. As you know, there are 3 older than me and it was doubtless a little hard to keep track of all 4 of us in the summer. Especially when I did the walking off bit. There's one particular story about me in a pair of pink pumps with a pink hat and handbag on my arm taking a stroll down the L-shaped alley. All were looking for me when my dad came around the corner with me on the motorcycle. Apparently we had met near the street and he offered me a ride home.

Meanwhile, it was crazy warm here yesterday - 59 degrees. So, I picked up the kids a little early and promised a bike ride when we got home. Harry came in and opened the garage and went about the bike extraction business while I carried Suzy in to get her out of her seat and into the sling. I was in the house for a 3 minutes, came out and Harry was gone.

Gone.

My first thought: 'Who took him?'
My second thought: 'He probably went around the block on his bike.'
My third thought: 'Who took him?'

So the neighbor when one way while I went the other and frantically called my mom. And Harry came around the corner very proud of himself.

My mom stopped by on her way home and said, 'It's come home to roost.'

Stupid apple and the tree business.

Yes! we have no bananas

Well, we really did have bananas, and we still do. It's just that Suzy ate one (well, just a tablespoon of one that had been through the processor with some milk) yesterday.

She seemed very pleased, and gobbled it right down.

55

Yes, 55 degrees Fahrenheit today. It's just an awful tease, but still, it was lovely. Suzy and I chased Harry around on his bike for the better part of the morning - around the block, and over to his slides (full inspection done - they still work) and heat laps around the basketball courts.

I've really just had enough of winter and am having trouble making myself remember that this isn't going to last.

But I just want it to. I really do.

From the kitchen of...

So the days tick by. We're sick of winter. Stuck inside, dry, itchy skin, crappy tomatoes from the grocery store, and so on. But, we're having a little fun here and there.

Isabella came over for a day, and we had a good time decorating some cookies. Some of them were declared 'just too beautiful to eat'. Apparently those are meant to just be licked.

Suzy didn't think too much of the frosting/sprinkle diversion, but she did grab a hold of a ball.

And, why not get dressed up for your 4 month well baby check up?
